Have been on edge all day waiting to hear the most amazing day Lola has had with her Dad Neil. At 10pm tonight I was so happy to get their update! And what a day they've had!
Neil writes:
"Day two - Up early with Lola, quick breakfast and a mile or so walk before we start the 2nd part of our journey up to Inverness from Morecambe. 5hr34 and 325 miles!
For those who are reading this just for the fuel price, Inverness is 132.9
Anyway back to Lola, slept all the way up and she is not really good company when I'm driving.
Stopped a few times on the way up and entered Scotland at 1130. Basically it's 2 roads, the m6, then the a9.
Scotland. Just a complete overload of beauty wherever you look. I kept putting off stopping because round every corner, there is a better view. Mountains, lakes, mist rolling along the glen, thunderstorms and lighting on your right above the hills, blinding sunlight on your left, wild cattle and sheep. Really beautiful drive up.
Had a delay in a car park after fueling, two ducks blocked the exit.
Made, after shooing the ducks off, good time up to shore of Beauly firth, west of Inverness. Arrived about 6pm
Kept lola in the car whilst I pitched the tent, and got everything ready before it got dark or rained
Gave her dinner, then unpacked whilst she had another nap then we hit the shoreline for a walk. Stunning views so of course took pictures of Lola!
Had an evening trip to Inverness. I figured out our walks for tomorrow
Found mcdonalds
Back to the tent, and struggled to get changed as it's not big enough for me.
Cuddled up with Lola and apparently there is a good chance to see the northern lights tonight. We won't see them as we going sleep!. Up early tomorrow."
What a great day they've had and really hope they have a restful night sleep ready for day 3's adventures!!
Check out the reel on Facebook where you can see the footage and video diary too!!
