The Adoption Process
Time to meet your forever best friend?

So, you've found this page, which probably means you have been giving it some thought for a while about having a furry best friend, and its not hard to work out that might just be a dog!
Well you have come to the right place as we have lots of absolutely wonderful dogs desperately but patiently waiting for their forever best friend and their forever home.

It is vitally important that we follow a process to ensure that both you and the dog are well suited, as much as sometimes you fall in love with how a dog looks, it has to suit your home, your lifestyle and your commitments. Some dogs need certain environments and may or may not like other pets or children in your home.

All our dogs have not had the best start in life so when we say a FOREVER home, we really mean just that.
Giving a home to a rescue dog is a big decision as they really have been through so much that they really cannot face another challenge of being rejected again and homeless. That is why it is so important that when someone applies to adopt a dog we send out an adoption application form, then go through this with you and carry out a home check to ensure you're right for the dog and the dog is right for you! Home checks may be via online or we may actually physically visit you in your home.

It is important for us to understand the environment and people you live with but we are not a tick box rescue, so we do not have set criteria when deciding if you can adopt or not. We assess every prospective adopter and dog individually.

For example, some dogs may need a high fence to reduce the chance of escaping, where as some dogs will not need a 6ft fence. Some dogs need a nice outdoor space, but some of our older dogs will be over the moon with a comfy bed, food in their bowl and lots of cuddles!

We have a range of dogs from puppies to old faithfuls who are desperate to have some happy times and feel what it is like to be loved.

Once you are home checked and everything is in order and you are matched with a dog, we will require a fee upfront to prepare the dog for travel to the UK. This covers the cost for the extensive blood screening that we carry out (not just UK mandatory testing for Rabies), vaccinations, deworming and deflea treatment, preparation of all paperwork including Passport, ID chip, import charge and transport travel cost. Once a dog has commenced preparation for travelling to the UK the fee is fully non-returnable.
All our rescue dogs are in one of the best Rescue Centres in Romania and they travel with the wonderful team that have been caring for them via the licensed transport that is purpose built for transporting animals with food, water and air regulating temperature control.

The dogs are delivered where possible to your door or depending on your location a pick up point is arranged.

We provide lifetime support for you and your dog and will remain in touch with you to ensure that both you and your new rescue dog has any advice or support that you may need for the rest of its' life.

In the unfortunate event that an unforeseen circumstance arises and you are unable to look after your rescue dog any longer, we offer rescue back up. The rescue dog will be rehomed by Save a Kill Shelter Dog to ensure that it finds a suitable home and continues to be safe and secure. We absolutely hope that this will not happen as we sincerely hope that when you progress with your application you commit to looking after your new rescue dog to the best of your ability for the rest of its life. But of course in exceptional circumstances we realise there may be times when someone cannot continue to look after their dog, and that is where we will step back in as we remain fully responsible for every dog that we rescue.
